For over twenty years, Gilbert & Gaillard has been one of the best-selling international wine guides published in France.
Created by oenologist Philippe Gaillard and winegrowing expert François Gilbert, the guide is renowned and published in nine languages. The publishers have now built up a network of correspondents in Europe, China and the US.
To avoid fatigue, they never taste more than 15 wines per session and evaluate them on a range of criteria such as finesse, balance, aroma intensity, complexity, length, storage potential and value for money. The wines are rated on a scale of 100 and each wine is provided with a tasting note. This time they tasted the Feuerheerds Douro Reserva.
This wine is made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz grapes. The Port character of the wine is created by maturing in old Port barrels for 12 months. This wine has a deep burgundy color and aromas of plum and cherry. Soft tannins on the bouquet due to aging in old wooden barrels.
